24/2/15: 10 things

1. Used the pram all day today with almost complete success- only a couple of annoyed cries. We never have a whole sling free day but my back is sore just now so very pleased we managed.

2. Nice morning at a local soft play with a baby yoga friend and her boy.

3. Said friend gave me a good pram tip- a box of raisins for entertainment! It worked!

4. Sunshine and showers weatherwise today, like this blog.

5. The last of my other half's birthday present was delivered early, thank goodness.

6. Just a Cloud Away by Pharrell- "This rainy day is temporary/the contrast is why we got em/the sun shining through/is just a cloud away".

7. The wee one had a proper bedhead all day today, his hair is getting so long. I love it, especially when it's messy!

8. Another nice dog walk. It's been difficult to juggle with the baby til quite recently but we're all getting on so well these days.

9. Got some baby friendly ice lolly moulds- going to make some breastmilk ice lollies to aid with teething.

10. Been asked to write something about continuing to breastfeed at work for the in office magazine which is nice. Will be good to say something positive about it as there has been lots in the press recently about how breastfeeding mums shouldn't have paid breaks to express. I couldn't have gone back without those so I am very grateful to my employer.

18/2/15: 10 things

1. Poor baby still unwell so we missed our usual Wednesday play date/baby class/lunch but let him watch some tv as a treat- lovely moment of him enjoying watching Thomas the Tank Engine with my OH who loved it as a child.

2. My mum came for dinner and to give me a hand which was really nice.

3. The dog was so excited to see her that he ran towards her barking happily. She isn't too keen on him either, bless him. Dogs can have such a lovely nature.

4. Took a two hour nap with the baby as he refused to sleep anywhere but in my arms, nice to do these things sometimes as I know I will really miss these moments one day.

5. Managed to get him to eat a little every meal today, thank goodness. Although he is having a breastfeeding strike (pumped 17 ounces!).

6. Got a lovely, supportive text from one of my really kind mum friends being very understanding about how difficult it is having an unwell wee one.

7. Finally settled him to sleep and watched an episode of Catastrophe, possibly the best thing I've watched on tv for years.

8. Planning on looking at some new glasses tomorrow, very exciting after 4 years with the same pair.

9. He is starting to feel better- temp was 39.4 during the night but is starting to come down thankfully.

10. Another two days off til I'm back at work, much appreciated as it means I can look after the wee one.

16/2/15: ten things

1. I've been thinking about starting a blog for a while, but it's hard to get started. I remembered doing lists like this (ten things about today) years ago and it's a nice format. It's helpful to reflect and look back. So here we go.

2. Did we really survive a whole hour long supermarket trip this morning with my wee boy in the pram the entire time? He's a total sling baby, not like him at all to be so patient strapped in like that...

3. Although he only slept for 15 minutes this morning and had no nap whatsoever this afternoon because it turned out he was unwell, poor little pal had a high temperature.

4. I'm meant to be working tonight but swapped my shift because we couldn't get childcare. Thank goodness- hate the thought of leaving him when he's ill.

5. Bundled him up into the sling- looking very sorry for himself the wee soul- and took the dog for a nice walk to try to calm the wee one down and get him some fresh air. It's starting to feel like spring and the sky looked lovely this afternoon.

6. Made the wee one some of his current favourite soup (apple and parsnip!) this afternoon which was the first thing he was interested in eating at all today.

7. Caught up with some housework. Boring but satisfying having neglected it over the weekend due to working long hours/lots of visitors.

8. Stumbled across an old favourite album listening to Spotify while doing the dishes tonight- Wolves by My Latest Novel. Beautiful. Seem to remember seeing them perform it live circa 2006 (!!!) in a tent at a local festival. Forgot about that/them altogether until now.

9. Partner's mum's birthday and she seemed to like the present we got her and made use out of it which is nice.

10. He's in bed and finally sleeping (90 minutes and counting). Resting at last the wee darling. So cup of tea!
